dual 1.8 g5 ydl 4.0 rc1 open firmware lock

Postby pkraus » 09 Aug 2004, 03:34

I am running a dual 1.8 g5.
I have reinstalled my mac osx panther install.
i used the disk utitily during the install to split the drive in half with the first partion macosx jouraniling file system and the second half as free
space. I reinstall os X booted ran all the updates.

I then rebooted the ydl 4.0 rc disc 1 iso.
It comes up with a text prompt (which was shrunk to the upper right corner of the screen very small.

The instructions on screen told me to type install -g5

I did this and then the monitor turned all white with some open firmware
message and the the system was locked. I rebooted to os X fine.

Any Ideas??

I think you should contact owen in the irc channel.
I don't know how far installs for g5 work.

ok,
I had a short conversation with owen.

you need to pass

install-g5

without whitespace.
so you will boot the kernel for g5.

should be fine then

greets kamika :D
