Ive tried everything but i gets stuck at:

INIT: No inittab file found

Enter runlevel:

Nothing seems to work and the game-os doesnt even boot.

Please can someone help

Wow - I've never seen this error before. Lucky you! :D

What I think is going on is that you're missing a key system configuration file - /etc/inittab. The init startup script that is executed during a Linux boot sequence reads a file called inittab located in the /etc directory. Yours appears to be missing or corrupted.

The runlevel question is asking for a Linux runlevel. Runlevels correspond to system functionality and are mostly numeric - ranging from 1 to 6 - except for the s and S runlevels. Normal system runlevels are 3 (full system, no graphics) and 5 (full system, full graphics). I would try either a 5 or a 3 as an answer to the question you're getting. That should get you back to a login screen.

You will need to recreate your /etc/inittab. My PS3 is playing a blu-ray movie for the family right now - Wall-E in hi-def! - so I can't do it right now, but I'll try to post a copy later tonight.

Cheers,
Paul

P.S. If you need to get back to GameOS, and none of the above works, you can always get back by shutting down the PS3, then turning it on from the front (soft) switch by holding it down until you hear 2 beeps.

Here's /etc/inittab

Code: Select all
#
# inittab       This file describes how the INIT process should set up
#               the system in a certain run-level.
#
# Author:       Miquel van Smoorenburg, <miquels@drinkel.nl.mugnet.org>
#               Modified for RHS Linux by Marc Ewing and Donnie Barnes
#

# Default runlevel. The runlevels used by RHS are:
#   0 - halt (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
#   1 - Single user mode
#   2 - Multiuser, without NFS (The same as 3, if you do not have networking)
#   3 - Full multiuser mode
#   4 - unused
#   5 - X11
#   6 - reboot (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
