Do you have any other devices plugged into your PS3 besides just the keyboard and mouse? I had this problem once when a Sixaxis controller was plugged into a Nyko MediaHub addon.
I will double check upon returning to my place this evening. I want to say that I didn't, but I know I did recharge a controller over the weekend. I will also try to start it with nothing plugged in out of curiosity.
