It would help if you could provide some more details on what exactly you've done so far (formatted from XMB, installed bootloader from YDL 6.1 DVD, checked sha1sum on your .iso before burning, etc). Also, what kind of display are you using and how is it connected?

I had formatted from XMB, Installed bootloader from YDL ^.1 DVD, I don't know what's sha1sum. I'm using an SD TV with RCA cables.

I installed 6.1 yesterday on my ps3 (1080p hdmi ) experienced this problem. I tried to install every possible resolution and none of them seemed to work. I was able, after rebooting multiple times, to get the installer to get passed that. I then ran into many different hang ups during the install and system boots after finally getting the install to work.

There are a few other posts already here about people with a few similar problems.

I checked sha1sum and it says da39a3ee5e6b40d3255bfef95601890afd80709 yellowdog-6.1-ppc-DVD_20081119.iso
I think the iso is good.

Actually that doesn't match what I'm seeing listed on the mirrors:

ftp://ftp.oregonstate.edu/pub/ydl/iso/SHA1SUM
259d78e210d5681116bc5fc0d38a1017890a4ca5 yellowdog-6.1-ppc-DVD_20081119.iso

Looks like you have a corrupted .iso file and you'll need to download it again.

I'll try the dowload again and let you know. Thanks. I downloaded the iso with Download Accelerator. I'll try to download it with no download manager. It's almost double the time. It says 7 1/2 hours left.

My Checksum was correct before I installed it. Still have the problems. I guess the disc could be bad but i don't know of a good way to test that.

You should select to verify disk after burn on the burning software. I think there's no way to check the disk once is ejected from the tray.

Well I have verified a new disk. It works fine an the install seemed to go much faster/smoothly, however upon a reboot I get stuck at the same part of the boot process, starting udev. It just hangs there and I am unable to get the system back up, at least I can boot into the game os still.

Do you have any other devices plugged into your PS3 besides just the keyboard and mouse? I had this problem once when a Sixaxis controller was plugged into a Nyko MediaHub addon.
