YDL 6.1 installation error (kboot)

Postby sugardave » 28 Dec 2008, 17:59

Okay, I FINALLY got a burned YDL 6.1 (long story) and have verified its SHA1SUM as good.

So, I'm to the point where the new bootloader has been copied and I have booted the OtherOS in order to install YDL 6.1. I have already fdisk'd out the old YDL 5.0 partitions, so I have one big blank partition for this.

The system boots to kboot prompt and this is what I get for ANY of the install options:

Code: Select all
get memory ranges:1
Cannot determine the file type of /mnt/root/ppc/ppc64/vmlinux
get memory ranges:1
Cannot determine the file type of /mnt/root/ppc/ppc64/vmlinux

Then the system appears to hang for a bit before eventually dropping back to the kboot prompt.

Any ideas?

What software did you use to burn the DVD? I normally use imgburn on Windows XP with verify after burning checked, and burn at a low speed like 2.4X.

Also, are you installing on a PS3, Mac, or what?
PS3 60GB [CECHA01], FW 3.15, YDL 6.2, Samsung T260HD @ 1920x1200
Powermac G4 1.25 GHz x2, 2 GB RAM, YDL 6.2

Ah, that's important....on a PS3.

So, I'm thinking my iso IS corrupted. I staged it on my laptop (sha1sum good) and network copied it to the burning machine (the DVD burner on my laptop has decied to go out...yay!)....I just checked the sha1sum on the copy and it is vastly different.

Going to try and get a good burn again....hopefully, this is it.
