hi all,

i recently upgraded from 5.0 to 6.1 and have an error whilst trying to use YUM , when trying to use yum it says,
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Config Error: Error accessing file for config file://///etc/yum.repos.d/yellowdog-updates.repo
i have no idea how to fix this im a newb at linux yellowdog for ps3, i read a tutorial to re configure yum but when i try an open a folder as in computer>system>etc>yum.conf it will not let me in the folder and says permmision denied
any one help on this please,

You have to be the "root" user to install software using yum or edit files outside your home directory (/home/yourusername) ... so use this command first:

su -

(and don't forget to add the hyphen)
<enter your root password>

Then to edit a file, use:

gedit /path/to/filename

(replacing "/path/to/filename" with the actual filename)

Also, there's a problem with the permissions on the yellowdog repo files for YDL 6.1 (for public mirror users only) -- on YDL 5.x and 6.0 you could run a yum search as a regular user, but not on 6.1. See here:
