2001 ibook installation issues

Postby senorbum » 17 Jan 2009, 22:38

I have a 2001 ibook that I wanted to install YDL on. When I create a dvd of YLD (.iso dvd) then insert it into my computer it will not read it on startup (holding 'c' key or holding option). When I check it using the disk utility it says that there is an issue with block size. I used 3 different burning programs, and when using nero I had it both automatically correct a block issue and I had it ignore it. Any suggestions? Let me know if more info is needed.

Thanks

Have you checked the sha1sum on your .iso file to confirm it's correct? See instructions for that here:

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2274

Also on the server you use to download YDL 6.1 there are instructions for that:

ftp://mirror.anl.gov/pub/yellowdog/iso/SHA1SUM-HOWTO

And a list of the correct sha1sum's for the different .iso files is here:

ftp://mirror.anl.gov/pub/yellowdog/iso/SHA1SUM
PS3 60GB [CECHA01], FW 3.15, YDL 6.2, Samsung T260HD @ 1920x1200
Powermac G4 1.25 GHz x2, 2 GB RAM, YDL 6.2

Yes - did you try http://www.imgburn.com/ ?

Most folks report success burning ISOs with that program.

Also - don't forget to check the SHA1SUM of the ISO image you downloaded. (Yeah - what billb is telling you to do - Hi billb! :D)

Cheers,
