problems with making the GUI

(I have an SDTV) After installing ydl to my ps3 and going through all the setup parts I come to the point where I log in as root and Type in Xautoconfig Then on the support site it says to edit diff/etc/inittab but I have no idea what that means or what to do could someone tell me what to do after typing in my user name and password. please don't point me to the wiki or anything like that because I have seen it all. please just explain it. Thank you.

BTW - I don't think you need the autoconf step anymore.

As for editing, many people dig nano - it's included in your system.
