Ok i was successful on downloading linux on my bro's ps3 now its my turn to install on mine only thing is i got 1 500gb hard drive. All i use the ps3 for is games and since i could put my music and movies on linux should i partion all my hard drive to linux. I wish ps3 could come out with a firmware update to let you choose how much space you want to give i would give linux half of 500gb and the ps3 half.

No - definitely not. Use 10 GB for the "Other OS" (Linux) and the rest for the Game OS since you mostly use your PS3 for games. Otherwise you'll quickly run out of space for games that install data on your hard drive -- and most of them do. Unfortunately you can't access the GameOS side from Linux, or the Linux side from the GameOS, so it's best to use a FAT32 formatted external USB hard drive which both sides can access.
