Installing on Dual G5

I have tried installing every release of YDL I could find on my dual G5 Apple xServe. The Video install only displays part of the screen and after successful text install it does not boot. As far as I can tell Yaboot is not even installed becuase the machine cannot find an operating system on startup. I noticed that the bootstrap is installing on an ext3 partition (which I doubt the firmware can read) and the installer does not allow you to change the type.

I have updated the firmware on my machine from an OSX installation and am still having the same issues. Ubuntu runs it's installer just fine but has the same boot option and I have been unable to find what I am doing wrong. Is there a Linux Howto for the G5?
