installing YDL on PS3 from USB stick?

Hi,

i have a 60GB PS4 with dead Blu ray drive that i wanted to make useful by installing YDL on, i was hoping to use a USB stick to do the install from like i know you can on PC's, i can get to "kboot: " but it can't find what it's looking for to do the install,,... so long story short can the setup/config files be modded or kboot be told to look at the usb stick not Blu ray drive to do the install,...

Do you get any options at all when you press the TAB key at the kboot prompt?

Also, how is the USB stick formatted and what you do have on it?

no, TAB key makes the "_" go from flashing at the end of kboot to flash under the k of kboot, then back to flashing at the end of kboot:_

the stick is FAT32 and was installed on using the pendrivelinux usb pendrive tool (i guess that could be an issue) with the current PS3_YDL.iso

I think we can come up with a solution, though a little help from Fixstars may be needed as well. So far what I've heard is that you copy the .iso file to the DVD (instead of using it to burn a DVD like you normally would) and you'd also need portions of what's normally on the install DVD as well. Now I'm not sure about using FAT32 since I think that might result in truncated filenames ... will continue looking into it ...

If anyone else has a solution for this feel free to jump in ...

There are several distros that will boot from a usb stick - I guess the contents of the iso need to be copied to the usb stick and then the stick would need to be made bootable with syslinux or grub?

Will continue trying to get this worked out, but I have to fight for access to the other PS3 which is usually running Little Big Planet, and I don't want to mess with my setup on this one.
