This
should work in any case:
1. Turn off your PS3 using the switch on the back
2. Wait a few seconds and turn it on again using the switch on the back
3. Hold your finger on the front power "button" for around 5 seconds or so -- until it beeps twice and comes back on. This should: Reset the factory default audio/video settings and also change the boot flag so the Game OS boots instead of Linux.
This is documented in the online manual for the PS3:
http://manuals.playstation.net/document ... ystem.htmlEven when other system software is set as the default system, the standard PS3™ system software will start if you touch the power button on the system front for more than five seconds when turning on the system.
If instead you get to a screen which has multiple options ("The Recovery Menu"), only use the first option ("Restart System") --
do NOT use "Restore Default Settings" option.
