Serial modem removed

Hi, I installed YDL 3.0.1 on my G3 Powerbook. During installation Mac Serial Modem was detected. During final setup of YDL a screen came up that said the Mac Serial Modem had been removed. I cannot set up a modem dialup connection because the modem was removed. I can make a connection using KPPP. When I run MOL I cannot connect to the internet because the modem was removed by YDL. How can I fix this? Why does KPPP find the modem but Not YDL?
