yep I did that. I'm not sure if I ever did have a protect=1 in bodega? maybe I did I don't remember. Everything is running fine, well like bill said no bluetooth for me but other than that I am g2g. I realized during boot the other day that along with the kernel being updated it says ydl 6.2 in the prompt... I haven't really paid that close of attention but I don't think the login screen says 6.2, I think it still says 6.1.

Thanks for posting that, billb. I'll make a note of it for future reference.

This is the /etc/yum.repos.d/yellowdog-base.repo file I am using:
Code: Select all
#generated by system-config-ydlnet
[base]
name=Yellow Dog Linux 6.2 Base
#mirrorlist=http://us.fixstars.com/resources/yd62-base-mlist
mirrorlist=http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/resources/yd62-base-mlist
enabled=1
gpgcheck=0
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY
protect=1

Note that when I tried "yum upgrade" with the url mirrorlist=http://us.fixstars.com/resources/yd62-base-mlist for each file that was dowloaded, there was an error message of the form "downloaded package does not match expected, trying alternate mirror". After about 5 errors of this form, it would download the next package with the same errors, all the way to the 32 install/163 upgrade/1 remove for 417MB (I left it running overnight) and then it aborted.

So far (16/162), things are working fine with the url http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/resou ... base-mlist

I've noticed that since the upgrade ydl-6.1 to ydl-6.2, I get the following error on boot:
Code: Select all
Setting hostname: ps3ydl
error; cannot find shared library libdhcp6client-0.10.so.0

..and sure enough:
Code: Select all
$ ls /usr/lib/libdhcp6*
/usr/lib/libdhcp6client-1.0.so.2  /usr/lib/libdhcp6client-1.0.so.2.0.8

although the network connection works fine.

Yum shows this:
Code: Select all
# yum list *libdhcp6*
...
Installed Packages
libdhcp6client.ppc                       1.0.10-16              installed
Available Packages
libdhcp6client-devel.ppc                 1.0.10-16              base

..but the repo http://ftp.yellowdoglinux.com/pub/yello ... base/RPMS/ shows this:
Code: Select all
libdhcp6client-0.10-42.ppc.rpm                                       05-Jun-2009 12:59   80K
libdhcp6client-1.0.10-16.ppc.rpm                                     22-Jun-2009 17:05   99K
libdhcp6client-devel-1.0.10-16.ppc.rpm                               22-Jun-2009 17:05  122K

It it worth manually installing libdhcp6client-0.10-42.ppc.rpm? Should the start-up script be modified? Should I just leave things alone since they work?

We've noticed that as well -- I ran into some trouble with my custom kernel RPM to add bluetooth support because of this -- see here:

Also, ohm created a topic regarding this issue already:

So, did you try the rpm --oldpackage install thing?

I haven't ... I did a fresh install without updating, installed my custom kernel RPM, then updated after rebooting. Since it's working, I haven't messed with it. But I'd like to determine what exactly needs to be fixed ... seems like nash would need to be rebuilt since installing libdhcp6client.ppc 1.0.10-16 breaks it and nash is used in the mkinitrd script. :?:
