kboot/sd card/install/ps3 and mountpoints

Postby jacobdk » 29 Jul 2009, 15:37

Hi all..

I found my "old" ps3 in the basement, and now i want to install the latest ps3-ubuntu.

My problem is that the cdrom, is broken, so i cant use my burnd cd.

I have then put ubuntu iso/files on a 1 gb sd card.

I then boot up the kboot manager and mount my sd card in /mnt/usb.

Now, my ? is, how do i install from /mnt/usb?

Thanks
Jacob

Just for future reference - this forum is dedicated to Yellow Dog Linux, not Ubuntu.

Yellow Dog Linux is based on Red Hat Linux and Ubuntu is based on Debian. Red Hat & Debian are dissimilar enough where we probably won't be able to help you except in the most general terms.

In other words - if you need Yellow Dog help - this is the place. If you need Ubuntu help - their forums are probably a better choice.

Cheers,
Paul

Yah, but if you read my post, you will see that my problem will be the same in YDL and Ubuntu..

But yes, it was a copy/paste.. Next time i just say its YDL..:)

Anyway, thank for pointing it out..:=)

I did read your post. It is not necessarily a given that your problem is the same in YDL and Ubuntu, since they use different versions of the Linux kernel.

In other words - I can't guarnatee that Ubuntu will use YDL's /dev mappings - especially in regards to mapping USB devices.

If you can confirm that those settings worked for YDL, that would be great. This is the first version of YDL that can be installed from a USB device.

Cheers,
