New installation of yellowdog 6.2

Hi all,
I am new to Linus and I did my first install last night.
I have an external HD connected to my system and chose 10 gig for the gameos during the install.
First of all, why did this format my external hard drive?
I did not even choose it during the install.
The install went fine ( I chose all options and GUI's to be installed ).
After that I rebooted and took out the DVD.
Now it is booting into the unix screen with the 2 penguins.
Why didn't it load up the GUI?
What do I have to type here now?
When I press TAB nothing happens.
Do I have to do this whole reinstall again?

Regards

f

First, I'd suggest that you carefully consider how much space you're leaving to the gameos -- most of us that continue to use our PS3's for gaming use 10GB for the OtherOS and supplement that with external or network storage. If you're not concerned with installing more than a few games on the GameOS side I wouldn't worry about it, but to change this later you'd need to format from the GameOS again.

From what you've described, I believe your external HD may have been selected by default during the install process, and you've actually installed to your external HD. As far as I know YDL 6.2 won't boot from a USB drive on the PS3 without some modification, though I haven't actually tried it on this release.

Try the install again but without your external drive plugged in.
