Thanks in advance, but as I try to install linux, right after i enter the kboot resolution, the install stops immediately, with this code.

buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 1911300
attempt to access beyond end of device
sr0: rw=0, want=7645208, limit=2691456
buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 1911301
/init: 1:/mnt/root/ppc/ppc64/vmlinux: Input/output error

To start: What platform are you installing on? There are Macs, PS3s, IBM BladeCenters, etc.

Thanks. It must have been past my bedtime when I read your post - you mention PS3 in the title. D'oh! :D

Also - just FYI - there's two completely different 80 gig models of PS3. For future reference, with the 80 gig, you should also mention how many USB ports it has on the front. We can figure out which motherboard you have from that. :D

Okay - first things first. It sounds like you may have an incomplete download of the YDL ISO.

Did you do a SHA1SUM verification of your download?

There should be a quick guide to SHA1SUM on the mirror you downloaded the ISO from.

Basically, you run a command line program on the ISO you downloaded. It prints out a unique number. Compare the number to the correct entry in the SHA1SUM file on the mirror. The numbers should match. If they don't - you have a bad download.

Cheers,
Paul

P.S. You are installing YDL 6.2, right? :D
