Any Ideas?
There's a couple of things we normally check before we start troubleshooting.
First - have you SHA1SUM verified the ISO you downloaded? The SHA1SUM is a unique checksum value that can be calculated for a file - like an ISO. In the directory where you downloaded the ISO, there should be a text file called SHA1SUM that contains the checksum for your file. If the SHA1SUM value listed matches the one you calculate from the ISO you downloaded, then you have a good download.
Here's the list of SHA1SUM values:

http://ydl.oregonstate.edu/iso/SHA1SUM-HOWTONext - do you have any extra USB devices attached? Like a thumb drive, or external harddrive? You'll want to remove them before starting the installation.
Finally - although you probably did this, did you partition the hard drive from the GameOS to either give 10 Gig to OtherOS or 10 Gig to GameOS? Also - from the GameOS, did you install the boot firmware using the Install OtherOS command? You need to do both of these steps from the XMB before you start the Linux install. DON'T FORGET - repartitioning the PS3's hard disc from the GameOS is destructive - you will erase all of your saved game data. You'll want to do a system backup before you do any kind of partitioning/formatting from the XMB.
