Hi Butters!

It sounds as though you formatted your hard drive improperly and affected the YDL installation as a result. If you had partitioned the drive where YDL and OS X resides properly the defrag application running on OS X would not "see" the YDL portion of the drive. However, YDL partition tools such as parted (and others) DO see both the ext3 and OS X partitions meaning that you should not do any partition or hard drive restructuring from within YDL as any changes you implement will create changes on the OS X partition and the YDL partition. Stated simply, Linux applications such as parted can destroy OS X and any files; it will also affect the YDL partition and the files stored there -- if parted is told to operate changes on the same hard drive within which it resides. So the wiser way to use parted is to manipulate or change only external hard drives -- not any partitions which exist on the same internal drive where parted exists.

This advice applies to any version of YDL sharing the same internal hard drive with OS X.
