If you downloaded an ISO of YDL, the very first thing you should do is verify your downloaded file with SHA1SUM. SHA1SUM is a checksum utility that generates a unique number for every file it scans. If the contents of the file you downloaded don't match the file on the server, it will generate a different SHA1SUM number - therefore you know you have a bad download.

In the original FTP ISO download folder, there is a file of values:
http://ydl.oregonstate.edu/iso/SHA1SUM
(for example)

The number value is what you should get when you run SHA1SUM on your file.

A quick HOWTO is here:

Cheers,
Paul
