Okay i have got given a free mac g3 green 233meg, 256megs of ram 2 x 20 scsci, dual vid cards.

I am having problems when the install process.

I get it booting of cd, and in turn thru to the boot menu, by trying text or graphically install it starts going thru process then crashes.

I not to sure what the problem might be.

I know linux rather well but first time i really dealt with apple macs. I have tryed yld, debain, fedora core 4(all ppc versions), all have same areas.

After reading some of the info from these forums i think it might have something to do with partitions, or bootx.

But my question is what software can i partition the machine with, it has no apple discs, i can boot in to mac os 8, is there any sorta boot disc you can d/l so you can parition it. This machine is gonna run linux and nothing else, since its gonna be a web server/mysql/mail server

I am wondering if the linux boot error is due to not starting the scsci disks, so i think i need bootx, but how do you install it on the boot loader, if you can not boot anywhere to install it in the firsta place?

Any help would be great
