Startup boot sound and other settings

Postby kamika » 12 Jul 2004, 20:02

Hi,
wondering if there is a way to mute the "bing" when I power up my ibook.

Another thing is there a way to adjust the screen? it is a little more to the left,
not centered right. Doesn't bug me too much, just want to know.

The start-up sound AFAIK cannot be changed or muted. Im not sure whether or not its hardware or firmeware related but i doubt it can be changed easily. as for centering X-there maybe an option to add/comment on in the X config file.

Hi

I noticed that if you mute the sound in OS X then the start up sound is also muted. As soon as you put the volume up it comes back.

There's probably an OF setting but I haven't got a clue what it might be?

No Sound on Mine

Postby cepaea_nemoralis » 06 Sep 2004, 03:50

I have a blueberry iBook and it has not made the bootup sound ever since I installed YDL on it. Go figure. I wish I knew why it didn't make the sound or else I would tell you.

What do you mean, the screen is not centered? There is a part of the screen that doesn't show any image at all?

My first instinct would be to go through your xfree86 configuration. I think that KDE has a utility for this.

I will tinker with it and see if I can help more later.
