Dialup internet

Postby MinorByrd » 23 Oct 2004, 01:14

I've just installed YDL and all went well -- now I'm looking around the system, trying to find out how to use my dialup internet connection.

I used the Internet Config Wizard, which I found under "System Tools", to set up the phone number, username and password etc., but I can't find the dialler.

I eventually found "KPPP" in "More Internet Applications" which required me to set up the name, password, phone number all over again, and has a dialler.

Both of these required the root password.

Am I missing something? Is there supposed to be an easier way? Should I have to have the root password just to change the phone number of my ISP?

i have found that under linux just about any chance to system settings requires you to use root; this is mainly done for the administrators sainity so he knows that some of the more specific setting stuff wont be messed w/
