Install Gnome in YDL 3.0.1

Postby jphuet » 07 Nov 2004, 15:35

Hello,

I'm a beginner in linux (2 months).
I installed YDL 3.0.1 on my iBook (G3, 300Mhz).
KDE works but is a little bit heavy for my configuration.

My question is : Gnome is known to be lighter than KDE. How can I install it (I don't know which RPMs to choose).

Thank you very much,
jphuet.

For installs as big as gnome I would seriously recomend using yum and not doing it by rpm (gnome has too many dependencies) "yum install gnome" should work
Til our paths cross again

Thanks a lot.

It worked only with "yum install gnome*"

But now, if I log in with Gnome, it tells me that it's impossible to make active the "OAFIID:GNOME_SettingsDaemon"

1- It seems to work but, MOL does not work in Gnome but it works in KDE.
Any idea ?

2- I would like to have the possibility to shutdown directly the system when I quit KDE but it does not give me the possibility. Can you tell me if it is possible to do that in KDE ?

Thank you very much.
