Yellow Dog 6 Add/Remove Programs Error!

Postby ej_424 » 22 Feb 2008, 03:08

Hey guys. I got YLD6 up and running on my PS3. I have one issue though, when i go to add/remove programs it errors out and says unable to connect to something or another. I tried running "yum update" in the terminal but there it says Server unavailable. Any ideas? Anyone else have this problem...

You have to put your username and password in the repo files as described on ydl.net, I believe ...

Why is that? Yellow Dog is free isn't it? I got the iso burned from a friend who has Yellow Dog account but he doesnt own the PS3, so he is no help.

If it is free ... why did you have to get it from a friend who has an account? Obviously you already know it isn't available for free yet.

But it will be soon ... this should clear things up, I guess:

Sorry - "It should just work" is Red Hat's tagline, not Yellow Dog's.

No, it won't work as you want it to. This is Linux - you have to sweat for sweetness. Get used to it.

(Besides, you've already got an up-to-the-minute distro. What could you possibly need that's more bleeding edge than YDL6 on a PS3?)
