Ps3 yellowdog 6 install of jre-6u10-linux-i586.rpm

First and foremost i'm new to linux. Im trying to upgrade java in firefox. THis is what i have done i downloaded the
1 jre-6u10-linux-i586-rpm.bin
2 from term su then rooot pass
3 cd /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
4 "this is where i got lost"
[root@localhost plugins]# chmod a+x jre-6u1-linux-i586-rpm.bin
chmod: cannot access `jre-6u1-linux-i586-rpm.bin': No such file or directory
[root@localhost plugins]# chmod a+x jre-6u10-linux-i586-rpm.bin
chmod: cannot access `jre-6u10-linux-i586-rpm.bin': No such file or directory

5 then i tried
[root@localhost plugins]# rpm -iv jre-6u10-linux-i586.rpm
error: open of jre-6u10-linux-i586.rpm failed: No such file or directory

the file is saved on desk top
Im running in Gnome

Im so lost help please i have tried googling

You're trying to run the chmod command on the .bin file, but you're in the wrong directory. It's probably in your Desktop folder (cd ~/Desktop as regular user, then run ls to list files).

However, that's not going to work anyway -- it is for x86 architecture and the PS3 uses PPC (PowerPC).
