Nothing To Do - YDL 6.1

Postby Taellik » 30 Dec 2008, 18:14

When using the terminal to do installs with the "yum" command, I sometimes run across the phrase "Nothing to do" after executing a "yum" command.

Does this mean the item has been previously installed and a duplicate attempt is being made and there was nothing for YDL to do to complete the process?

That means it either did not find what you're trying to install, or it's already installed.

To see if something is already installed, you can use:

rpm -q packagename

Example:

rpm -q gedit

You can also use:

yum search packagename

Example:

yum search gedit
