I did all the stuff you told me to do last time too if it helps...
[Nicolas@localhost ~]$ yum list available
Loading "installonlyn" plugin
Config Error: Error accessing file for config file://///etc/yum.repos.d/yellowdog-extras.repo
That error is due to the permissions being set wrong for the yellowdog repo files on YDL 6.1 for public mirror users. Either:
A) run the command as root:
- Code: Select all
su -
<enter your root password>
- Code: Select all
yum list available
or B) fix the permissions as described in
this postIn either case, you must run yum as root to install something, but you should be able to use yum search, yum check-updates, etc. as a regular user.
[Nicolas@localhost ~]$ more /eyc/yum.repos.d/*
/eyc/yum.repos.d/*: No such file or directory
That's a typo ... should be /etc/yum.repos.d/*, not /eyc
/etc/yum.repos.d/yellowdog-base.repo: Permission denied
/etc/yum.repos.d/yellowdog-extras.repo: Permission denied
/etc/yum.repos.d/yellowdog-updates.repo: Permission denied
[Nicolas@localhost ~]$ cd /etc
Due to the permissions issue I mentioned above, regular user accounts can't read those files unless you change the permissions.
[Nicolas@localhost etc]$ cd yum.repos.d
[Nicolas@localhost yum.repos.d]$ ls -la
total 40
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jan 19 00:08 .
drwxr-xr-x 99 root root 12288 Jan 19 00:02 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 104 Jan 19 00:08 dribble.repo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 118 Jan 19 00:06 fedora-extras.repo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 119 Jan 19 00:07 livna-stable.repo
-rw------- 1 root root 212 Jan 19 00:09 yellowdog-base.repo
-rw------- 1 root root 208 Jan 18 19:43 yellowdog-extras.repo
-rw------- 1 root root 234 Jan 19 00:10 yellowdog-updates.repo
[Nicolas@localhost yum.repos.d]$
See the difference between the repo files you created (-rw-r--r--) and the yellowdog repos (-rw-------) ? That's the permissions issue I'm referring to.
Also, when you installed, you shouldn't enter anything during the ydl.net account configuration part unless you actually have a ydl.net account (where you pay for enhanced download service). If you did that, it would put the username and password you entered in your repo files, but wouldn't be able to access the server since you don't actually have an account. In that case, we'd just need to edit your yellowdog repo files to match the ones for YDL 6.1 as listed in the "How to Install Software (YDL 6)" guide.
