Yeah - that's usually what happens when you run azureus with the built-in Java, instead of IBM's Java. It's so bloated and huge that it's forcing other programs into your hard disc's swapfile memory - which makes your desktop respond extremely slow.

You can help this by enabling ps3vram swap.

Im little confused about STEP 6. All it says is enter "chmod 755 ps3-vram-swap" I tried typing that into the terminal and nothing happens. I'm I suppose to enter that as gedit or something. And if do have to enter the lines on STEP 7 in any particular place in the ps3-vram-swap file. The site is a little vague and I really dont want to sscrew anything up. SRY IM NEW

When you enter chmod 755 ps3-vram-swap nothing will happen. Instead, it fixes permissions. And - nope - you don't enter anything with gedit.

You open a terminal window, and type this, hitting ENTER after each line:
Code: Select all
su -
<enter_your_root_password>
cd /etc/init.d
wget http://us.fixstars.com/support/solutions/ydl_6.x/ps3-vram-swap
chmod 755 ps3-vram-swap
chkconfig --add ps3-vram-swap
chkconfig ps3-vram-swap on
service ps3-vram-swap start

then close your terminal window. That's it.

After you're done, you can open a terminal window, and type /sbin/swapon -s and you should see the output similar to the following:

Code: Select all
Filename         Type                 Size            Used            Priority
/dev/ps3da3      partition            522104          12196            -1
/dev/mtdblock0   partition            241656          0                 1

I got it.

You're typing su. You need to type su - That's s u and a dash. Go back and look carefully at the previous posts - you'll see it there. :D

That's why I think it's better to put "su -l" - then everybody sees the "-" :)

Yeah - but then they don't know if it's an I (i) or an l (L) with our board fonts. :(
