How do I start from scratch and get rid of it..........?

Again - you can't. Once you've loaded the firmware with otheros.bld, with the Install OtherOS command, it's loaded forever. All you can do is overwrite it with another copy.

Weird, huh?

I'm still surprised that when you put your first disc in there, you can't use the Install OtherOS option.

You could verify that the otheros.bld exists on your install DVD. If you pop the disc in a PC or Mac, you should find this directory and file on the root of the drive:

/PS3/otheros/otheros.bld

This is what your PS3 is looking for.

Dear mr sir Paul

Right ! I tried once more, I even went to the install os, and it found the disc ( the 1st one I did) So I pressed install for the heck of it, then slected it through defaulst os etc etc. I know understand that tab thingy, as If I keep pressing it it changes the install prompt, of which there is about 5 or 6 . But still to no avail...!
I press enter also to no avail....! Could it still be an issue with disc do you think....????
And what would you advice I try next

sincerely Janos

I give up.

At this point - re-download the ISO from an official mirror.

Verify the download with SHA1SUM. Then use IMGBURN to create the disc. This is the only procedure we know works for certain.
