Bluetooth in YDL?

Postby CED10 » 06 Jul 2009, 01:05

Hey Guys,

I'm a new user with YDL 6.1 and i was wondering if there is any kind of software which allows you to use the bluetooth on the ps3 to send and recieve files to devices such as mobile phones? If anyone knows anything even if it can't be done please get back to me.

thanks for you time

You should/might be able to use openobex, obexftp and (if you want to mount your phone as a file system) obexfs and fuse.

These work fine for me on an x86 system, but I didn't try on ydl - I'm not sure if they are available via yum, you might need to compile them.

You could try the following sticky posts in the ps3 section:

Please READ ME FIRST (known issues, useful links, and help)

I'm not at a ps3 at the moment, but you could open a terminal window and enter the following:
Code: Select all
$ su -l
[enter root password]
# yum install *obex*

This should list any obex packages available for ydl. If no packages are found, you will need to compile the various obex apps.

You need to update your fedora-extras.repo, I think. Take a look at the one here:
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3017#p11364

The download.fedora.redhat.com server is now archives.fedoraproject.org.

I think this means:
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/f ... ras/6/ppc/
is now
http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/a ... ras/6/ppc/

Cheers,
Paul

To check if obex (and obexftp and obexfs) are installed, you could look for /usr/lib/libobex*

Before you can use obex, you need to "pair" with the remote bluetooth device. I guess the way to do this differs with what window manager you use - E17, bloat-o-gnome, etc - I'm not at a ps3 right now, but you could trawl through the menus looking for bluetooth and pair. Maybe bluez-gnome (which can be used to pair) is already installed or exists as a yum package?

Once you are paired, "obexftp -l" should find your remote device and list the contents of the top level directory. The obexftp man page will give the instructions for file transfer. As I mentioned earlier, it is perhaps easier to mount the remote device file system using obexfs and then transfer files with your window manager's file manager.
