None of us have had a chance to try the 6.1 to 6.2 YUM update yet - since the 6.2 release hasn't hit the free mirrors yet.

I did document my 6.0 to 6.1 upgrade here:

sudo is not set up by default on Red Hat-based systems like YDL. However - folks that are used to Debian-based systems - like Ubuntu - enable it on their YDL systems.

Normally, when you see a sudo command, you would just switch to root user with the su command, then issue the next part of the command: yum update

What are you trying to update to? 6.2 isn't quite out yet - the server directories are blank, last time I checked.

If you're trying to update from 6.0 to 6.1, you will have to do this:

1. Disable all third party repos. Turn off ps3bodega, dribble, livna, fedora, etc. All must be set enabled=0
2. Disable your current YDL repos. If you're running 6.0, you must set enabled=0 to yellowdog-base, yellowdog-extras, yellowdog-update.
3. Create new YDL 6.1 repos. Here's a link showing my new 6.1 repos and my disabled 6.0 repos:
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=4382&start=15#p23070
4. Open a terminal window and switch to root using su command.
5. As root, run yum update
6. Resolve any package errors - I had issues with gFORTRAN *lol*
7. Run yum update again, if necessary.

Be sure to back up your /home and /root directories before you try this. If something goes wrong, you'll want copies of those.

Paul

I can't answer because there's stuff that i don't know what you've done that says it can't be solved by looking at this no information or something?

Cheers,
Paul

P.S. Details, man, details. Exact error messages and detailed steps you used to try to update. Text captures directly from your terminal window would be preferred.
