Starting the proftpd server ?

If you are new to YDL and have some more or less basic questions.

Starting the proftpd server ?

Postby Mikaelft » 08 Aug 2009, 15:36

Hello. How do I start the proftpd server ?

I am more familiar with Mandrake where you can write "service proftpd start" and then it is started.. :P

But how do I do it with YDL 6.1 ? I have installed proftpd from the software manager.

If you've installed it correctly, then "service proftpd start" is how we do it too.

YDL & Mandrake are both based on Red Hat. :D

Make sure you're root user, though. Normal users can't access the service command.

If you're in a GUI window, you'll need to use an su -l not a simple su for this to work.
