Accessing Windows Shares

Ok so I got YDL 6.1 setup on my PS3 with relatively little pain. However transfering files between my PS3 and PC is proveing difficult. Useing Fat32 I cant transfer files large enough and using EXT3 has been sorta working but sorta a pain with windows and formatting my USB drive EXT3 is not smart in the first place. Plus 32GB is proveing not to be enough.

So I would like to be able to just transfer over the network instead of buying a bigger external drive. I see a few threads explaining how to get wireless working (which I havent been able to yet) so I will start there. But once I get that going how to I access windows shares from within linux? Like I access'd my USB drive with \media\disk\

Do I have to setup Samba? Or is that only if I want to share files from linux?
