install gecko-mediaplayer-0.9.8-2.fc12.ppc64.rpm

I want to watch windows media stream (I know) in Firefox. As per firefox, gecko-media player plug-in installation should work.

(I already downloaded mplayer and installed it. also I installed gnome-mplayer-common-0.9.8-1.fc12.ppc.rpm and gnome-mplayer-minimal-0.9.8-1.fc12.ppc64.rpm)

After that I downloaded the gecko-mediaplayer-0.9.8-2.fc12.ppc64.rpm. When i used the software installer, it stops after dependency check with the following error messages:

Missing Dependency: libgobject-2.0.so.0()(64bit) is needed by package gecko-mediaplayer
Missing Dependency: libdbus-1.so.3()(64bit) is needed by package gecko-mediaplayer
Missing Dependency: /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins is needed by package gecko-mediaplayer
Missing Dependency: libgconf-2.so.4()(64bit) is needed by package gecko-mediaplayer
Missing Dependency: gnome-mplayer-binary >= 0.9.8 is needed by package gecko-mediaplayer
Missing Dependency: libglib-2.0.so.0()(64bit) is needed by package gecko-mediaplayer
Missing Dependency: libdbus-glib-1.so.2()(64bit) is needed by package gecko-mediaplayer

So - this probably won't work on YDL as is.

Here's why.

YDL is not based on Fedora. It is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, via the CentOS recompile. RHEL is about three versions back from current builds of Fedora. YDL 6.2 appears to be based on RHEL 5.3, which is equivalent to Fedora Core 6 or so.

You'll need to find Fedora Core 6 versions of these applications. You're downloading fc12 RPMS - which is Fedora 12, I think. Fedora 12 applications are built against newer libraries that YDL/RHEL/CentOS based Linuxes do not have.

Also - we in the YDL community generally don't manually download RPMs anymore. Instead, we use YUM to automatically install our applications and all necessary dependencies. There's a good guide to getting started with YUM here:
