PS3 and linux

PS3 and linux

Postby Fiji » 19 Dec 2009, 22:06

Someone told me that you cannot load Linux on PS3 CECH 2000 or newer. I just bought the PS3 2001 because I was told (by a sony rep) that I could load YDL on it. I have not tried yet to do so because it appears to be time consuming. I'd hate to waste a lot of time if this cannot be done. Can anyone help me out here.

As far as I know, the 2nd generation "Slim" PS3s do not have the "OtherOS" option which allows you to install Linux.

"The Open Platform feature is not available for the CECH-2000 model (or later models) of the PS3™ system."
