Mounting a Second Hard Drive

Mounting a Second Hard Drive

Postby roshi » 07 May 2010, 03:33

I've installed a new SATA drive on my Macintosh G5. I'm having a devil of a time getting it to mount. I've ran parted to get it ready to mount, I've made a directory, and I've ran the command mount /dev/sdb1 /dev/storage - no dice

i've been following an online guide, but that doesn't seem to help much.

----any help? thanks!

I followed a tutorial online. It works, but I don't like how it works.

Are all additional drives treated as a folder? I use the GUI [Nautilus], so I really don't think of it that much. I can see how it would be easier in terminal.

Also - the drive doesn't show up in computer:/// - no biggie. I just bookmark the folder.

A graphical system partition editor / viewer is "system-config-lvm"

It displays fine but does not appear to be too user friendly. Gparted and QTparted failed to load. (go figure).

Job complete - i now have a 320GB drive and a 500GB drive for less than $50
