trouble with plugin

Hello all,

I wasn't quite sure if this post is more fit for the installation section or this one. I am currently trying to configure the latex plugin for Kate (version 2.5.4) and have been unable to do so.
I have downloaded the plugin, I am just unsure of what I need to do to compile and implement it. If necessary I can provide the specifics. Sorry if this is a basic question but
if anyone has any suggestions or tips on how to configure plugins that would be great.

and I apologize in advance if the answer is right under my nose somewhere on this website! I have been searching for a solution using google for a while and have concluded that the commands for configuring plugins in ydl are different!
