Yes - you can. It's trickier though.

You'll have to perform a "text" install. No GUI support - for the installer. The text installer is pretty straightforward - it basically follows the same steps as the graphical installer, which we call Anaconda.

The install procedure is detailed here:
http://www.ydl.net/support/installation ... _guide.pdf

Once the installer is done, you then have to manually create a normal user account, hook up the graphics to load at boot, and you're good to go.

To create a normal user account - from the root account text mode prompt - which is where you should be after installation and reboot (login as root for the user):

useradd whatever_name_you_want_to_log_in_with
passwd whatever_name_you_want_to_log_in_with

Replace whatever_name_you_want_to_log_in_with with - well - the name you want to use. e.g. ppietro, billb, etc.

useradd creates the User, passwd sets the Password.

To configure graphics from a text mode, follow the steps here:

How to switch from text to graphical mode on a PS3.

We also have a community guide here that explains details the official guide kind of glosses over:

Howto: PS3 Video (YDL 6)

You can't use HTTP setup. You'll have to install it from CD-ROM.

I'm assuming you're at this screen:

Unfortunately, YDL does not officially support a USB installation. :(

That being said, some of our forum members have managed it.

and

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6989

As for the HTTP install, on this screen:
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fed ... d-x86.html

select URL. You will need a hardwire connection - you can't use Wireless during the install. You should get screens similar to this:
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fed ... s-x86.html

and
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fed ... l-x86.html

Put the URL suggested in the above guides, and the install should start, assuming enough of YDL is setup by these procedures.

Like I mentioned - it isn't an officially supported install method, but folks have gotten it to work.

Cheers,
Paul
