Sorry, but just to be clear: What's your hardware platform? (i.e. Mac G5, PS3, etc.)

I think you're using a Mac, based on the original location of this question, but it would be helpful to know which model.

Hi lgldsr73!

I'm curious -- just how do you pronounce this name?? :mrgreen:

I've used YDL for many years, however I don't ever recall it being designed to boot from external drives regardless of what PowerPC platform it ran on. You can use nearly any external drive regardless whether it is Firewire (FW), Universal Serial Bus (USB) or even the older Small Computer Systems Interface (SCSI) as long as the computer in use has those ports and after following the procedures to format it for Linux and ext3 so that YDL can mount and use it as a secondary storage device.
