How to change CLI including YDL *cursor* not prompt

Postby 8bitsofascii » 27 Feb 2013, 07:06

Hello - I was trying to search for info, such as here

http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Bash-Prompt-HOWTO/

but all I see is how to customize the string that is printed by the prompt.

What I want is to get a SOLID NON-BLINKING BLOCK CURSOR in much the same way I get on OS X Terminal (Preferences).

On a larger matter, how do I change the font of the entire CLI? I have a bit of nostalgia and in fact what I'd love is to get back one of those old style green screen monitor CLIs, but of course with all the power of the modern architecture and GNU apps behind it (and text colors).

I've never done it, but it looks like, if you're using the default Enlightenment environment for PowerPC YDL, you should be able to configure a few things.

Open up a terminal window, and select Edit --> Profile... and/or Edit --> Current Profile... to customize things. I was able to select the Colors tab, uncheck "Use colors from system theme" and select Green on black from the Built-in schemes. I also selected the General tab, and unchecked Cursor blinks. I think that got a terminal window pretty close to what you were describing.

Cheers,
Paul

I mean the CLI before going into X Window, so not the Terminal app on the GUI. Just the standard CLI prompt.
