Where to get YDL6 'yum'mies (or 'Oh, no - not again!')

Postby NeoAmsterdam » 06 Mar 2008, 20:51

At the risk of repeating myself...
...I had to use Fedora 5's PowerPC yum repositories to install [KDE] packages...
...I don't like the thought of spending a half a week compiling the KDE 4 suite...
Whatever TSS's gripes are regarding KDE, KOffice (IMO) is more preferable than using OpenOffice (butt-load of bad Java bloatware).

So now that YDL6 is up and purring on ye olde TiBook*, I'm looking once again for a shortcut: Is there a yum repo that's got KDE4 and KOffice precompiled for YDL6, or will it be ./configure && make && make install all over again?

* Yes, the YDL6 installation was far superior to YDL5's. It seems that someone at TSS was listening... !-)

Figures that I'd answer my own question so soon after posting it. The solution:
Code: Select all
cat > /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-8-ppc-everything.repo << "EOF"
[fedora-8-ppc-everything]
name=Fedora 8 PPC Everything
baseurl=http://mirror.anl.gov/pub/fedora/linux/releases/8/Everything/ppc/os/
enabled=1
EOF
yum clean all
yum list
