Backup anything you want to keep on an external drive or network share, then re-install. You don't need to re-format the drive from the Game OS, but follow all the other steps in the install guide, starting with the bootloader (install OtherOS).

YDL 5.0 is based on Fedora. YDL 6.0 is based on RedHat Enterprise Linux (via CentOS). I can imagine that upgrading between these different distributions would be very hard. I think it's probably a good idea that the YDL 6.0 installer forces a reinstall instead of an upgrade - it should prevent a lot of issues in the long run.

I think you can save your personal data if your /home directory is on a different partition. If you have only one partition for the entire install, then you'll have to follow billb's steps. :(

(I should really test out this /home directory theory. I will when I set up YDL 6.0. At this point, I'm waiting for my PS3-to-VGA cable before I start the setup. :) )

Cheers,
Paul
