I am able to browse my shared folders on my Windows XP computers with no problems from the file browser (nautilus). I don't have a system with Vista installed at the moment.

I wonder if some of the issues folks are seeing with this are due to NT authentication?

I haven't played with this yet, but I remember using Samba a long time ago and having to create an "smbpasswd" file to accompany my UNIX "passwd" file. This was because the NT authentication string was longer than the UNIX authentication string.

Cheers,
Paul

Is that exactly what I'm supposed to type? It just prints the usage info as if I typed the wrong thing.

Ah ... OK. Never used it before ... :)
Looks like it works fine here with the included version.

Code: Select all
[bill@localhost .mame]$ smbclient -V
Version 3.0.23c-2
