Installing MOL on a G3 iMac with YDL 5.0.2

Postby uncooldude » 02 Apr 2008, 00:29

Like the subject says: got a G3 iMac with YDL 5.0.2. I also have Mac Classic installed on the system on a separate partition, and yaboot works fine.

Now, like everybody knows, I'm a newbie to Linux. I found out about Mac-On-Linux (MOL) from the terrasoft site, and I wanted to run it on my system. So, I got the source tarball from maconlinux.com's sourcefourge page, and tried to install it. Unzipped the package, did the whole ./autogen.sh thing, then did make. The configuration screen popped up, and I left everything untouched. Then, it went through its various motions, up until it got to the "Entering Linux" line. At that point, it gave me an error message and quit.

I've sent three or four emails to the guy who is currently developing MOL, but he hasn't gotten back to me, and it's been about two weeks total. So, now I'm posting at the YellowDog forum, to see if someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong (or if it's even me), or what my computer is missing.

Does anybody know where I can find an up-to-date RPM of MOL?

Ok, I finally got an email back from Joseph Jezak (mol's author). He said I'm missing the original source/header files for the YDL kernel. Can anybody tell me where to find the source files for YDL 5.0.2 for PPC? I don't want to have to compile a custom kernel yet.
