Wireless card driver (Proxim and Linksys) compilation

Postby goldenlab » 08 Aug 2004, 15:34

Hello,

Wonder if anyone can shed any light on the following;

Recently installed YDL 3.01 from CD onto an G3/400 upgraded 8600. Some years ago I used to run LinuxPPC on this quite successfully. Run Redhat at work.

Anyway I have Linksys WMP54G and Farallon Skyline (Proxim) wireless cards which I am attempting to get working.

Has anyone successfully used either the wavelan or ndiswrapper kits to get either of these working under YDL?

I get the following errors:

1. ndsiwrapper compile error is:

cc1: invalid option preferred-stack-boundary=2

when i remove this option from the /driver/Makefile I then get the error:

Unrecognised opcode 'movl'

2. wavelan error is:

...have to remake kernel with loadable module support...

Is this _simply_ a matter of running <make config>?

The ndiswrapper error _looks_ like it may be a little endian versus big endian error....can anyone confirm or deny?

Thank you for any advice or assistance.

Regards,

I'm not much of a programmer and wouldnt quite know what exactly is about the code. but yeah as far as i know (and understand) I know that thats the problem with the ndis wrapper; as far as the wavelan it should compile, but the YDL default kernels have some non-standard patches on them that seem to create module symbol errors on compiling most drivers
Til our paths cross again
