Cant use software updater plz help

Hey whats up? Ive only been using Linux for a couple of months now, but so far so good. Everything has been working great, and was setup exactly the way I like it. Then recently, I noticed pup wasnt looking for updates anymore. When I tried to run it, I received an error that no network connection was available. When I click on details, it says none available. ??? Then I tried to run the software install/remove programs manager, and I get the exact same message. Im confused as this was working fine, and then just stopped working on its own. I'd hate to have to reinstall after I got everything just right. Can anyone please guide me in the right direction. By the way, my internet browser works just perfect, downloads, etc.... just the updater is not working. I tried it with enlightment, and Gnome2 and have the same problem. Hey Bilb, thanks for the quick reply. I temporarily got it going by disabling all of the extra repos I have installed. So at least I know the problem is with one of the repos. Now I will just try enabling them one at a time and see what gives. At least I know its nothing major. Thanks again for the help,and I will keep you posted of anything I find. Was getting just a little frustrated for a min.

If you'd just run that command from a terminal window it should give you an error message which would most likely indicate which one is causing the problem ...

I think your livna-stable.repo is messed up. Specifically, it looks like you're using 6.1 instead of 6 in the baseurl listings.

i.e. you should use

instead of what you have, which is:

My software updater for 6.2 also stopped working, but for a different reason. I get
"Another Application is running which is accessing software information"
using

I get

i've tried to kill it as root but no success.

gives

Config Error: Error accessing file for config file://///etc/yum.repos.d/yellowdog-extras.repo

here's a tip for saving some precious ram/cpu cycles, stop yumupdatesd, click on services in your menu enter you root password and uncheck yumupdates, save, change to runlevel 3 and do the same.
Then periodically check for updates, I found by running top in a terminal you'll see yumupdates using about 15% cpu when it's running, ouch

ok so how do i do that how do i get to it. i am using 6.1. i think i did somthing in the add remove when all this happend but im not for shure. i think when i did the easy install guide i went to add remove and checked the livna was that a bad move? and if i need to post anything from my termial let me know becuse i would like to get this fix. i have worked around it for a wile now but some things wont install with out it like desent2 and stuff like that. any help would be nice thankyou

Yeah - you can't add/remove the livna repos. Part of this is due to version mismatch - YDL 6.1 & YDL 6.2 = Livna 6. Instead, you have to manually create them.

Basically, you're going to use gedit to fix this by manually editing the livna-stable.repo file in the /etc/yum.repos.d directory. (/etc/yum.repos.d/livna-stable.repo)

You'll want to make livna-stable match the one on that webpage.

billb - in addition to the livna errors I mention above, suddar shouldn't mix ps3bodega & livna right? IIRC, it should be ps3bodega + yellowdog-base, yellowdog-update, & yellowdog-extras or fedora-extras/dribble/livna + yellowdog base & yellowdog-update + yum-protectbase.
