gcc-ppc32 rpm

Postby DEL » 13 Jan 2009, 20:41

We are tracking down a problem with an install of Oracle 10g on an xserve cluster running ydl 6.1. The install requires pre-installation of the IBM Advanced C/C++ Edition for Linux. We have downloaded the 2 recommended yhpc versions of the tarred files containing the rpms. Of the five rpms extracted, they all install fine until the last one which gives the following dependency issue

[root@grimsby tmp]# rpm -ivh vac.lib-7.0.1-0.ppc64.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
gcc-ppc32 >= 3.3.3 is needed by vac.lib-7.0.1-0.ppc64

We have been searching for "gcc-ppc32" with no success -- don't see it in the ydl repos --and wondered if someone more familiar with yellow dog and working on a ppc might be able to help.

Any tips, hints pointers appreciated.

Thanks

Sorry I can't be of more help with this ... you might try posting the question on the YDL General mailing list as well.

As a last resort you could try forcing an install, like this:
Code: Select all
rpm -ivh --force vac.lib-7.0.1-0.ppc64.rpm
PS3 60GB [CECHA01], FW 3.15, YDL 6.2, Samsung T260HD @ 1920x1200
Powermac G4 1.25 GHz x2, 2 GB RAM, YDL 6.2
