iMac Fan out of control…

Postby libraryeye » 09 Feb 2009, 22:32

Hi,

I'm total linux newbie- have iMac G5 single PPC:

I happily loaded Yellow Hat 6.1 onto a partition and now I have dual boot machine, with OS X Tiger still on its own partition.

Trouble is … there is no fan control. I boot into Yellow Dog and fan runs full blast the whole time. I find some postings scattered about web on this but they all seem to refer to older Yellow Dogs… Here in the forum I only found posts about 4.1. I really can't run the mac with the fan revved up the whole time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

There seems to be two threads about this. Here is the other one:

I'd love to see some help with this one.

Ah, I see that ... locking this one.

I might be getting an old Mac soon (Dual G4, I think), but currently I just have the PS3 and can't really help on this issue. Please post a solution in the other topic if you do find one.
