Audacity USB Turntable use on linux

Postby gcates7 » 24 Nov 2009, 15:16

Hello all. I'm new to this board and have a question about linux. I haven't installed it yet and I'm not sure if I'm going to yet, as it seems a little over my head. But I just received a gift of a usb turntable that converts vinyl albums over to wav. and mp3 files to later put on a cd or mp3 player. The turntable uses a program called Audacity, I believe its ver. 1.26. I was wondering if anyone here knows if YDL would work with something like this. I don't currently own a pc so that isn't an option right now. Any help would be appreciated!!

On the PS3 I know there's a bug with recording from USB microphones -- the same may apply to a USB turntable which uses the USB audio codec.

If you're using a PowerMac you might be in luck.

Forgive my ignorance, but I don't know what a PowerMac is. Is this something I can get or download? I'm going to be installing YDL 6.2 regardless, but I'd love for this to work out!

An older Macintosh with a PowerPC processor (they were discontinued in 2006, switching to Intel CPUs). You haven't mentioned what you have and YDL runs on a number of systems other than the Playstation 3.

I'm going to be installing YDL 6.2 regardless, but I'd love for this to work out!

Again, on the PS3, it doesn't seem likely you'll be able to record from the USB turntable due to the bug I mentioned.

Sorry, for not mentioning earlier. Yes, I will be installing YDL on my ps3. I don't currently have a pc. So, then this bug is gonna keep my program from running correctly?
